The Chamber, the City of San Diego, and the County of San Diego organized the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Economic Research Bureau (ERB) in 1952. The purpose for creating the ERB was to provide an objective resource for collecting, analyzing and reporting regional economic trends. In 1980, the San Diego Unified Port District added support as well.

Information produced by the ERB is used by government, business, media, students, community groups and others seeking useful economic and demographic data to understand San Diego. ERB receives well over 100,000 inquires and requests for information every year.

The ERB publishes the Economic Bulletin, Databook (published every two years), Economic Indicators (published monthly), and special industry reports.

  • Mission: To be the premier resource of economic research on the San Diego region.

  • Vision: To provide expert economic analysis, insight and information for the local region and business community to guide and direct the region to economic prosperity.
