Save Our Events Act Introduced in State Senate

The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that SB 973, the Save Our Events Act, was introduced in the State Senate in mid-January by Senator Juan Vargas (SD-40th). The bill would provide an exemption for temporary special events and park use permits from undergoing environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Next, the bill will be sent to the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. To urge swift and successful passage of the bill, the Save Our Events Coalition has been sending letters to local legislators, as well as Senator Christine Kehoe, a member of the Environmental Quality Committee. The Save Our Events Coalition - with more than 130 participating organizations - urges you to send letters to Senator Kehoe and other legislators asking them to SB 973 (Vargas). This issue is critical to San Diego, California, and the thousands of special events that raise charitable contributions and draw travelers and tourists to our region.
