In a statement released today, September 10, 2008, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Ruben Barrales stated his support for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, despite the recent effort to launch a recall.
The California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA), the state's prison guards union, announced that they were planning a recall effort against Schwarzenegger on Monday.
"Governor Schwarzenegger has accomplished much for California and the San Diego region over his time in office. This push for a recall is both unwarranted and unproductive. We need to focus on the real issues at hand, such as working on long-term budget reform and improving our infrastructure," said Barrales.
The Governor has been a dependable ally against "job killer" bills in Sacramento and has supported important infrastructure improvements to help reduce San Diego's traffic congestion, energy reliability and water supply needs.
Founded in 1870, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting the business interests of its more than 3,000 member companies, while increasing the international region's prosperity.
