Marie’s Words Releases a Revolutionary Vocabulary Product
One Small Company Unveils One Big Solution For Students Across The World
One phrase captures the essence of Marie’s Words: “I’m good with faces, but I can’t remember names.”
Marie Bradvica, a recent graduate of Carlsbad High School, created her own method to learn vocabulary words while studying for the SAT as a junior. Marie realized that her difficulty with retaining word meanings mirrored her struggle with remembering people’s names. She needed a “face”—some visual element to remember—when perusing the long list of SAT vocabulary words. That is when she discovered visual language.
Marie began to associate each word with a picture that related the word’s meaning. Just as a logo is a visual representation of a company, Marie’s Words employs colorful illustrations and mnemonics to create a “face” for each of the 550 hand-picked vocabulary words from the SAT and literature.
It worked. Marie improved her SAT score by 260 points and improved her language skills both in and out of the classroom. Her illustrations worked so well, in fact, that she decided to make her flash cards available to the world. With the help of her father, two brothers, and many educational professionals and consultants, Marie’s Words is now available in the traditional flash card format at www.marieswords.com and in the Apple, Android, and iPad app markets.
Although Marie’s Words was initially developed as an SAT vocabulary tool, the set of 550 words is appropriate for any age and has been endorsed by educators for K-12. Additionally, the app is perfect for college students looking to improve their lexicons. Diction is the core of reading and writing from elementary school to graduate school. Maries Words tackles difficult vocabulary in a fun and effective way.
