Tommy Pastrami NY Delicatessen

Tommy PastramiTommy Pastrami NY Delicatessen voted “Best Deli Sandwich in San Diego” in late 2010 is a family run restaurant specializing in overstuffed sandwiches, fresh salads, award-winning chili, and delicious homemade cheesecake and bread pudding.  In addition to serving great quick casual lunches on the go, they also specialize in catering custom sandwich platters and sides perfect for events ranging from office lunches and corporate meetings to potlucks and family parties.  Tommy Pastrami also serves a fantastic breakfast from 7-11am weekdays and all-day on Saturday.  With locally roasted premium coffee, fresh squeezed OJ (which they juice at the counter when you order), amazing breakfast burritos, and traditional breakfasts made to order, many people living and working in the area now have a new breakfast hotspot.  They also serve a New York Hash with your choice of Corned Beef or Pastrami and the “Build Your Own” breakfast sandwich they call the 4x4, offering four options each of; how you like your egg, your choice breakfast meat (even Pastrami), cheese, and the bread you would like it on, including rye toast.  Since opening in September 2010 Tim (owner) & Eric (general manager) have enjoyed enormous amounts of positive feedback from their guests like “It’s about time San Diego got a REAL DEAL deli!” and “After anxiously waiting months for your guys to open I can honestly say it has been COMPLETELY worth the wait.”

Tommy PastramiEric graduated Summa Cum Laude from Le Cordon Bleu – Western Culinary Institute in Portland and has a passion for implementing the highest quality standards and procedures which are easily recognized in every bite.  Tim, always recognizable in his Hawaiian shirts, is seen everyday schmoozing guests and bussing tables.  Together they posses a remarkable ability to make their clients (whom they call guests) feel as if they are guests in their home and not just another customer with a billfold.

Tommy PastramiRecently they have instituted some convenient options for their guests to get in and out quickly during the extremely busy lunches.  One is the “Grand Central Station” named for the world’s largest and most famous rail terminal in Manhattan.  It’s simple; order and pay on-line at Gimmegrub.com and your lunch will be waiting for you on a series of shelves just inside the doors at whatever time you choose.  No waiting in lines, no signing, no fuss.  Just in and out.  There are multiple ways to order as well.  Gimmegrub.com is a way to preorder your lunch from your desk.  But, TPSD has also partnered with Restaurant.com and Restaurant Connection who are currently showcasing the restaurant on their websites and will even deliver to you.  And of course you can always fax or call in your order or just stop in and visit with the friendly staff and listen to some jazz while you enjoy the “Best Deli Sandwich” and one of the best deli experiences in San Diego.
