Art Pulse
Art Pulse is a nonprofit arts service organization founded in 2007 with a mission of strengthening the health of the arts in San Diego County. One of its primary initiatives is to form a county arts council, also called a Local Arts Agency. Local arts agencies provide cultural infrastructure and to the arts of their region. They provide services to artists and arts organizations as well as services to our cities, the business sector, and the public, services like the Arts and Economic Prosperity IV (AEP IV). There are 5,000 local arts agencies in the United States, two thirds of which are independent nonprofit organizations.
Arts & Economic Prosperity IV
The AEP IV is most comprehensive economic impact study of the nonprofit arts and culture industry ever conducted in the United States. It was conducted by Americans for the Arts, the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts and arts education, in partnership with 182 regions in all 50 states. The study results were released June 8th and prove that in San Diego County, the arts are big business. The nonprofit arts and culture industry generates $665 million in annual economic activity, supporting 20,374 full-time equivalent jobs and generating $70 million in local and state government revenues.
