TransNet Early Action Projects
TransNet II (Proposition A) passed last November, with a supermajority of 67% of voters supporting the measure. Although the funds for TransNet II will not begin to flow until 2008, San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) has already begun to prioritize projects to receive TransNet II funds.
SANDAGs board of directors voted to designate the following projects as Early Action Projects. They are all part of the regional long-term transportation plan, the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).
The Chamber is following the progress of these plans, as well as other regional transportation plans, to ensure our transportation infrastructure will continue to grow and thrive!
Projects that remain uncompleted from the original 1987 TransNet Ordinance and Expenditure Plan:
Priority projects on corridors already under construction or in advanced phases of planning and design:
4. I-15 managed lanes-north and south extension,
5. SR-52-HOV/Managed lanes (reversible)
6. I-5 North Coast Corridor-environmental effort
7. I-805 corridor-environmental effort
Three additional projects supported by SANDAGs board of directors May 2005.
8. I-15 Rapid Transit (added 5-05)
9. South Bay Bus Rapid Transit (added 5-05)
10. Mid-Coast Super Loop (added 5-05)
Comprehensive Operational Analysis
Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is currently working on an overhaul of their transit system, from the ground up. Recommendations from subcommittees has spurred a "Vision for MTS Services", which includes the following concepts:
1. Develop a Customer-Focused System
2. Develop of Competitive System
3. Develop an Integrated System
4. Develop a Sustainable System
To accomplish these goals, MTS has developed the Comprehensive Operational Analysis (COA) and regularly elicits opinions from two groups: The Blue Ribbon Committee and the Citizens Advisory Board. To read more about transit developments for the region, visit the COA web page at http://www.tmdinc.net/clients/mts/index.html, or visit MTS at www.sdcommute.com
