SAN DIEGO – Doug Sawyer, president and chief executive officer of the new Legacy Bank in La Jolla and former San Diego market president for Bank of America, has been named the 2003 chairman of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He takes over from immediate past chairman Theodore D. Roth.

Sawyer has spent many years involved with the Chamber and has a long career in banking. He joined Bank of America in 1992, having previously worked for Security Pacific Bank and Great American Bank. He formed Legacy Bank, which is exclusively owned and operated by local business leaders and entrepreneurs, in 2002.

He attended SDSU and the University of Virginia’s Graduate School of Retail Banking. Sawyer also serves on the boards of the Holiday Bowl and the NFL Youth Education Town, the advisory board of San Diego Community Centers, the McGill Circle of the San Diego Dialogue and the Leadership Trust of LEAD San Diego.

He has three children and resides in La Jolla with his wife Marilyn
