He takes over from immediate past chairman Theodore D. Roth. Sawyer has spent many years involved with the Chamber and has a long career in banking. He joined Bank of America in 1992, having previously worked for Security Pacific Bank and Great American Bank. He formed Legacy Bank, which is exclusively owned and operated by local business leaders and entrepreneurs, in 2002. He attended SDSU and the University of Virginia’s Graduate School of Retail Banking. Sawyer also serves on the boards of the Holiday Bowl and the NFL Youth Education Town, the advisory board of San Diego Community Centers, the McGill Circle of the San Diego Dialogue and the Leadership Trust of LEAD San Diego.
