San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce Announces The Hiring of Scott Alevy as the Vice President of Public Policy and Communications

San Diego, CA -- The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Scott Alevy will join the Chamber team as the vice president of public policy and communications on February 1.
Alevy will manage public policy advocacy, planning, and communications strategies that address governmental and community initiatives. Also, he will manage media outreach for the organization.
"We are delighted that Scott Alevy will join our team," said Jessie J. Knight Jr., president and CEO of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. "His expertise, experience and energy will be important to the Chamber's continued advocacy for the business community."
Alevy previously served as director of external affairs at SBC, new named AT&T, since May 1997. He came to the telecommunications firm after more than two decades of professional work in government relations, public affairs and broadcast media.
Alevy also served as a member of the Chula Vista City Council. Recognized as a community innovator and a strong advocate for business and education, he was honored with the prestigious Legislator of the Year award by the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce in 1996.
Alevy chaired the successful Proposition BB campaign that won voter approval for a $187 million bond issue for Sweetwater Union High School District facilities in South Bay in November 2000.
He currently serves as the president of the South San Diego County Economic Development Council, as a member of the Unified Port District Chairman's Marketing Task Force, and is on the board of directors of the California Veterans Home Support Foundation.
Alevy also served as a Super Captain for the Super Bowl Host Committee in San Diego, as well as on several regional and local city commissions and committees
An accomplished writer, his work has been published in several national magazines. Alevy holds a B.A. degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California.
