San Diego, Calif.— The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Business Improvement District (BID) Council will honor Doris Mera, owner and operator of Andre's Restaurant in Clairemont, as the BID Volunteer of the Year at the 2000 Tribute to Small and Emerging Business Awards Luncheon.

Mera's selection follows a year of hard work in committing herself to improving her community for an improved business atmosphere. Her nominations included testimonials noting Mera's unbiased vision concerning what needs to be done to improve the community.

The BID Council, founded in 1989, aims to foster communication, networking and information-sharing among San Diego's diverse business improvement districts.

Each year the Tribute Luncheon celebrates the National Small Business Week, taking place this year from May 21 to 27. The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the SBA are planning the annual Tribute to Small and Emerging Business Awards Luncheon on May 25. This year's theme, "A Salute to the Stars," honors the entrepreneurs who have helped create one of the best economies in decades. The luncheon, to be held at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, will feature dozens of local award-winners.
