Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery
Fort Rosecrans became a National Cemetery on Oct. 5, 1934. From Interstate 5 South or Interstate-8 West: Exit at Rosecrans Street, turn right on Canon Street, turn left on Catalina Boulevard.
Situated in San Diego County on the Fort Rosecrans Military reservation, the cemetery is located approximately 10 miles west of San Diego, overlooking the bay and the city.
Bayfront area downtown features Seaport Village, wide sidewalks and a lovely harbor. The Star of India also is docked here along with the U.S.S. Midway aircraft carrier museum.

The observatory is home to five telescopes that are nightly used for a wide variety of astronomical research programs. The research is conducted by Caltech's faculty, post-doctoral fellows and students, and by researchers at Caltech's collaborating institutions. The 200-inch (5.1 m) Hale Telescope (f/3.3) was the world's largest effective telescope for 45 years (1948 - 1993).
